The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), Office of Acquisitions - Neurosciences, Station Support/Simplified Acquisitions on behalf of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) intends to negotiate a Purchase Order on a sole source basis with Newport Corporation (i.e. the Contractor) located at 3635 Peterson Way, Santa Clara, CA 95054, to perform service maintenance and coverage on existing lasers equipment. The Viral Immunology and Intravital Imaging Unit at NINDS requires preventive maintenance service performed on existing Mai Tai HP DS Lasers manufactured by, and previously purchased from, the Contractor. Order will include 1.) preventive maintenance inspections, 2.) laser calibration, 3.) laser replacement upon failure, 4.) unlimited service visits, 5.) unlimited telephone support, 6.) onsite laser repair service. Contractor is the only source with access to certified technicians with the ability to provide service on the lasers working directly on location. No other type of supplies or services can satisfy agency requirements. Period of performance will be 12 months. This acquisition is being conducted under FAR Part 12, in conjunction with the policies and procedures for solicitation, evaluation, and award prescribed in Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures, and is exempt from the competition requirements of Part 6.
