The U.S.A.F. is seeking to identify potential contractors qualified to perform roof repair work in the Fairbanks Alaska region. The Government is contemplating a firm fixed price Sealed Bid contract for a roof repair project. The estimated magnitude is between $500,000 and $1,000,000. This posting is a request for information from interested vendors and is issued solely for informational and planning purposes. This posting is not a Request for Proposals or an Invitation for Bid. Respondees are advised that the Government will not pay for any information or administrative costs incurred in response to this RFI; all costs associated with responding to this RFI will be solely at the interested party's expense. Not responding to this RFI does not preclude participation in any future IFB, if one is issued. If a solicitation is released, it will be synopsized on the FedBizOps website. It is the responsibility of the potential offerors to monitor these sites for additional information pertaining to this requirement. The work shall include but is not limited to: Repair by replacement (warranty included) of existing Built-Up Roof Membrane (BUR) flat roof to roof decking, including insulation, underlayment's, metal flashings, drain covers to include all associated clips and fasteners. Install new Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) system insulated to R38 in accordance with manufacturer's specifications in areas previously covered by BUR roofing systems an area of 42,199 square feet to extend up and over if appropriate over parapet Fire wall including removal and replacement of 8 each roof drains. The facility shall be occupied during construction by the Iceman Outfitters Lighthouse of the Blind employees. The facility may experience heavier than normal foot traffic due to its function as a basic military clothing issue and supply store for the base patrons, Eielson Air Force Base Alaska, under the jurisdiction of the 354th Fighter Wing. The roof system shall be installed in accordance with manufacturers' specifications and good construction practices. Contractor shall furnish all plant and labor, all materials, supplies and equipment, to include facilities necessary to perform work requirement, transportation to and from job site, inspect, restore, repair or replace roofs. Remove 42,199 square feet of existing BUR membrane on a flat roof, 40,194 square feet adhered or mechanically attached roof insulation, over 4" average thickness. Remove 1,195 square feet existing metal flashing, drip edge and expansion joint, to include all associated clips and fasteners. Remove 125 square feet mechanical vents, and duct work. Install 33,080 square feet of tapered insulation, roof crickets, and/ or saddles, install remanufactured flashing for Vent Through Roof's (VTRs) 2 each per roof plan, install 1,229 square feet of metal flashing (19 ga minimum) over parapet wall in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and procedures, install 8 each 4" inch roof drains includes bowl installation, patching, flashing and associated components, install 40,194 square feet of 5/8" Gypsheeting thermal barrier, install 1,922 square feet of plywood sheathing ½" AWPA C9 treated on parapet wall, cut 4 square feet hole in wood deck to accommodate installation of 8 each new larger overflow drains, install 40,194 square feet vapor barrier, FFP-8 mil polyethylene, install 60 lineal feet up to 4" piping for roof drains, including hangers and accessories.
