- RESPONSES TO QUESTIONS FROM THE PRE-BID MEETING Question 1: ALT #1 - does fume hood come with exhaust fan? Who supplies this and is duct galvanized or stainless steel. Answer: The fume hood is identified on C4/A601. The fume hood comes equipped from the manufacturer with a fan. Note 14 sheet M101 calls for galvanized duct. All parts and materials are the responsibility of the contractor. Question 2: DH-1 Dust/fume hood bought or made? If made, what material is this? Answer: Schedule, sheet M601. Device manufactured by MONOXIVENT Series SFH. Question 3: Where does the timer for EF-3 get located: Answer: A4/M101 note 4 - Locate on wall nearest to note 4 on dwg. Question 4: What is needed for drain piping for auto clave room 118 (6)? Answer: P102 Note 6 - provide copper pipe from autoclave to floor drain; match connection on autoclave. Terminate on top of floor drain. Question 5: What size pipe is acid resistant waste (ARW) at tie-ins? P102 room 116. Answer: Match the 3" waste line under the cabinets. Reduce to match sink fixture connection. Question 6: What is needed to remove and reinstall RO system general lab to lab S103: Answer: P201 note 2 - Provide cold water feed and 110v outlet for plug in. See also Note 11 sheet P202. Question 7: Is there vacuum pipe in tunnel? All I see is HW, HWR, CW, air. P202 overall plumbing plan. Answer: Vacuum pipe is not in the tunnel, it runs along the exterior of the NW wall. Question 8: P202, room 116, note 4 - where does vacuum line tie into air and what size? Answer: Reroute vacuum line over the new opening. Reconnect to the two remaining vacuum fittings. Question 9: Drawings show epoxy tops with a thickness of 1 ½". This is a non-standard thickness. Answer: Provide 1 ¼" thick tops. Question 10: Please advise what types of services you want for the fume hood in Alternate #1. Answer: No services other than electric are required. Question 11: Hydronic line sizes? M101 room S104, S103. Answer: The specified equipment have hydronic line connections. Match the line size to the connection size for supply and return. Question 12: Are water lines to eye wash-shower large enough? P201 S103. Answer: ¾" hot water is correct. ½" cold water should be changed to ¾". Question 13: Where does gas line tie-in and what size? Answer: The specified equipment (MUA-1) has gas piping connections. Match the piping size to the connection size on the equipment. Do not use a transition or reducer in the gas line. Question 14: Specifications section 2.2.A.1.b calls for plain sliced veneer. Specifications section 2.3.A.1 calls for quarter sawn veneer. Please advise which one is correct. Answer: Spec section 06 41 00 2.2.A.1.b is correct for - the exterior wood surfaces exposed to view. Spec section 06 41 00 2.3.A refers to accessory materials. These are separate items and no contradiction is noted. CHANGES Demolition plan Autoclave 118, B3/A102: New door opening shall be supported with (2) - L6x4x3/8" steel angles (6" leg vertical). One angle shall be installed into existing mortar joint and bear a minimum of 16" beyond proposed masonry opening on each face of existing 8" CMU wall. Angles shall be field welded together at bottom (4" legs) with 1" long weld at 12" o.c. prior to installing proposed hollow metal door frame. Steel lintel shall be primed and painted to match existing CMU color. ADD-ALT 2 Measure Quantity Unit Price Amount Add-Alt 2: Phased construction. Lump Sum 1 -- tiny_mce_marker_____ Additional cost to substantially complete renovation of shop lab rooms S103 & S104 and allowing Gov't occupancy of same prior to beginning demolition of lab rooms 116 & 121. REISSUANCE OF DWG SHEETS Drawing sheets C101 and C102 have been modified for easier reading. LIST OF SALVAGED EQUIPMENT Government will remove all tools and equipment from rooms to be renovated. Unless noted otherwise, Contractor shall remove and dispose of all remaining furnishings and equipment as shown on dwgs. Contractor is responsible for relocating or returning to Gov't the following equipment: 1) Autoclave. From shop to room 118. 2) C1/A101, C1/P101, A4/P201: Owner provided stainless steel sink and fixtures as indicated are located in room S104. 3) Growth chambers to be relocated in room S105 as shown on details A4 & A5/A101. 4) Drying room to be relocated as shown on details A4 & A5/A101. 5) Image Analysis Lab room 121: Remove and return to Gov't: base cabinets and marker board as shown on C4/A102. 6) General Lab room 116. As shown on C4/A102: Remove and return to Gov't base and wall cabinets and table. Relocate emergency wash station within room 116. Existing base and wall cabinets to remain otherwise. Flammable storage cabinet to be relocated within room 116.
