- This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. HERBICIDE (Weed Control) SPECIFICATIONS Herbicide License must accompany Contract Bid 1. Approved herbicide - Roundup (glyphostate) by Monsanto or equal in the following characteristics: a.Safe to use where people and wildlife will be using the area. b.No soil residual activity with no washing or leaching from vegetation. c.Rapid absorption by foliage and moves throughout plant into roots. d.A broad spectrum herbicide for control of many annual and perennial grasses and weeds plus many trees and woody brush species. Some plants that should be killed are grasses, annual weeds, perennial weeds, honeysuckle, blackberries, etc. e.Safe for use near trout stream and potable water source stream. f.Microbiological decomposition with half life of 60 days or less. 2. Spray only on days that there is no drift due to wind so that desirable plants are not injured or killed. 3. Do not spray when rain is forecasted or likely. Payment will be withheld for line item areas not killed. Contracting Officer will have 7 days to determine effectiveness of spraying before payment will be submitted. 4. When spraying below Dam all herbicide must be back packed or brought in from the top of the Dam. No chemicals will be transported across river by hose or other form. (Approximately 1070' from top of Dam across the field below). 5. Spray entire foliage, where possible, or vegetation to be controlled. 6. Use proper and acceptable equipment. Most cases a back sprayer will be required except road, road shoulders and parking areas. 7. Using mixing application methods, application rates, application timing and safety precautions listed in label and/or in technical paper on herbicide used. 8. All areas listed will be given a good spraying during first spray in May. Then each mouth through September, a follow up spray will be performed to kill any weeds that might have sprouted after the previous spraying. Scheduling for monthly sprayings will be coordinated with Contracting Officer. 9. Copies of company's license for herbicide spraying and applicator's training and experience are required in Facility Manager's Office at the project. 10. The proper manpower will be needed to accomplish the job without assistance. 11. Contractor will be responsible for supervisory and QA duties of on-site herbicide placement personnel. Corps of Engineers Safety Manual 385-1-1 will be followed.
