- This is a Request for Information to obtain potential sources for an upcoming procurement by the Defense Logistics Agency Troop Support Subsistence Supply Chain. The purpose of this notice is to conduct market research for food Vertical Form Fill and Seal machines. This is not a request for proposals, quotations or bids. Responses to this announcement will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions. Information provided will be considered proprietary and will not be shared. The Vertical Form Fill and Seal machines must meet the following technical specifications: Technical Specifications : Size : 12 up - 25" web Type : Vertical form fill and seal custom built for PNB and Non-PNB side. Sealing : Horizontal Seal bar - Herman Ultrasonics / Vertical Seal bar - conventional Filler : Heated filler bowl. Filler and fill pumps designed specifically designed for cheese and peanut butter. Temperature monitoring on fill nozzles with automatic shutoff. Speed : High speed - 60 - 80 strokes per minute - servo driven machine Throughput : 720 per minute Material : Food contact surfaces must be made of Stainless 3A Dairy approved Coding : Laser printer for coding of pouches to reduce coding defects Design specifics : Designed for easy washing and sanitizing Allen Bradley PLC's for high statistical feedback Additional Equipment Requirements : 1. X-ray Detector capable of accepting 12 lanes ( or 25" web) at a time to add metal detection and foreign material screening to both lines (not in place at this time) 2. Nitrogen gas cooler capable of cooling 12 lanes ( or 25" web) from 200F to 100F to improve cooling efficiency, enhanced quality / food safety to match increased throughput If you are interested in providing information, please do the following : 1.
