- The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Technology Acquisition Center (TAC) is seeking sources to provide a hands-free wireless communication system for a medical center in Orlando, Florida. The communication system shall possess the following features: "Must be a hands-free device, voice controlled, and weigh less than 2.5oz. "Must operate on wireless radio 802.11g and be FIPS 140-2 certified. "Must be able to be 100% operational throughout a 918,00sqft facility. "Must have the ability to receive text messages on each communications badge. "Must be able to transfer voice page to nearby telephone. "Must be able to communicate to any badge or phone number via voice command. "Must display caller ID, battery life, and text messages. "Must have a minimum battery life of 2.5 hour talk time and 24 hour standby time. "Must have the ability to receive bed call information from Rauland 5 patient call system. "Must have the ability to receive alerts from Emergin telemetry triaging system. "Must be able to provide a voice account for each employee (approx. 3500) "Must be able to accommodate a peak user rate of 500 users. "Must be able to allow the employee to login to his/her account from any communication badge. "Must be able to use current NEC SV8500 PBX system to make and receive incoming and outgoing calls from the facility. "Must be able to interface with government BlackBerry enterprise phones and allow the BlackBerry to function as a communication badge within the facility. "Must be able to interface with Cisco inter-facility desktop and wireless phones. "Complete installation for turn-key operation upon acceptance of system. "Any and all calls must be capable of automatic escalation to a pre-designed call flow path leading to no calls going unanswered. oTo minimize risk of nosocomial infection, the device should incorporate anti-microbial material to inhibit the growth of bacteria, mold and fungi. o3 year warranty service must be included with the communication device with a trade out system for defective hardware oThe Communication System will incorporate permission based controls for placing and receiving calls from a pre-approved list of phone numbers, extensions, and pagers oCommunication System must include a central monitoring capability of user presence, allowing someone to view individual staff availability In addition to the features described above, basic user training for 2000 employees and advanced user/administrator training for 30 personnel is required. This is a request for information (RFI) only. Do not submit a proposal or quote. It is requested that all companies interested in participating in this effort please note their interest and provide indication of their respective capabilities to perform the effort described above. This RFI is for planning purposes only and shall not be considered an Invitation for Bid, Request for Quotation, or a Request for Proposal. Additionally, there is no obligation on the part of the Government to acquire any products or services described in this RFI. Your response to this RFI will be treated only as information for the Government to consider. You will not be entitled to payment for direct or indirect costs that you incur in responding to this RFI. This request does not constitute a solicitation for proposals or the authority to enter into negotiations to award a contract. No funds have been authorized, appropriated or received for this effort. The information provided may be used by VA in developing its acquisition strategy and Performance Work Statement. Interested parties are responsible for adequately marking proprietary, restricted or competition sensitive information contained in their response. The Government does not intend to pay for the information submitted in response to this RFI. The following information must be submitted with your capabilities statement.
