Description
DARPA-SN-13-27, MILITARY IMAGING AND SURVEILLANCE TECHNOLOGY (MIST) TECHNICAL EXCHANGE AND PROPOSER'S DAY CONFERENCE DARPA will host a technical overview of the MIST program on March 15, 2013. The review will be in conjunction with a Proposer's Day Conference in support of DARPA-BAA-13-27, Military Imaging and Surveillance Technology - Long Range (MIST-LR), Phase 2 Program. The meeting will be held at the DARPA Conference Center, 675 North Randolph Street, Arlington, VA 22203 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The purpose of this conference is to provide information on the status and capabilities developed under the MIST program and promote additional discussion on this topic. The Proposer's Day Conference will provide necessary details from MIST-LR, Phase 1 and related efforts; address questions from potential MIST-LR proposers; and provide a forum for potential proposers to discuss their capabilities for teaming opportunities. PROGRAM OBJECTIVE AND DESCRIPTION: The Military Imaging and Surveillance Technology program is developing fundamentally new electro-optic sensing capabilities to be used on airborne and ground platforms for biometric and target identification applications. The MIST-LR element of the program focuses on long-range geometric and 3-D imaging technology that will allow for target characterization beyond the physical-aperture diffraction-limit of the receiver system. New sensing methods and techniques being developed are based on, but not limited to: • Computational imaging • Synthetic-aperture imaging • Digital holography • Multi-static laser radar Current optical imaging systems can provide the capability to identify targets for specific applications or scenarios; however, these systems have significant limitations defined by their size and operational range. The physical aperture of the imaging receiver, the effects of atmospheric turbulence, performance of the receiver array, the power of the illumination source, and the image formation algorithms are the primary defining characteristics of active imaging systems. DARPA believes that to meet the final program objectives, it is necessary to implement the new sensing methods developed in MIST-LR to address all of these areas. REGISTRATION INFORMATION: Participants must register NLT March 12, 2013, via an email to BAA-13-27@darpa.mil with subject line "MIST Conference Registration". There is no registration fee for attending this conference. Due to space limitations of the conference facility, attendance will be limited to the first 150 registrants, and no more than 4 representatives per organization or company. When registering for the conference, please include the following information in the body of the email: • Full Name • Company Name • Company Mailing Address • Email • Phone • A brief statement that details the organization's expertise and experience in long-range imaging systems A SECRET clearance will be required for this meeting and must be received by March 13, 2013. Please fax your clearance/visit request to DARPA at (703) 528-3655 or send it via email to: VCC@DARPA.mil. Via JPAS, the requesting FSO may send a visit request using the SMO Code: DDAAUS4. Any security related questions and concerns should be directed to Nisha Lal, 703-526-2046, nisha.lal.ctr@darpa.mil. The Proposer's Day does not constitute a formal solicitation for proposals or proposal abstracts. Attendance is voluntary and is not required to propose to any potential related Broad Agency Announcements or potential research solicitations on this topic. DARPA will not provide reimbursement for any costs incurred to participate in this Proposer's Day.
