- Description
- The Naval Research Laboratory has a requirement for Radiation and Acceleration Physics Research Support Services. Vision statement: Develop theoretical, numerical and experimental techniques to solve basic plasma physics problems and assess potential applications for novel radiation sources and particle beam accelerators. More specifically, the Contractor shall provide support in the following major areas: 1) Research on atmospheric propagation of intense laser pulses, 2) Research on high-gradient laser driven acceleration processes, 3) Research on fundamental plasma and optical physics processes, 4) Research on electron beam driven radiation sources, 5) Development of and research on applications for high power microwave, millimeter wave, and Terahertz sources, 6) Engineering support for NRL laser and microwave facilities. The solicitation and a detailed statement of work, specifications and other supporting information including contract data requirements will be posted approximately 15 days from the posting of this notice. Based on a survey of the market, the government has determined that the services to be acquired do not meet the definition of a commercial item. Therefore, the government does not intend to use the procedures as outlined in FAR Part 12 for this acquisition. It is anticipated that an Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract with an ordering period of three years will be awarded as a result of the solicitation. The current contract, N00173-07-C-2088, was awarded to Icarus Research, Inc. NRL uses Electronic Commerce (EC) to issue Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and amendments to RFPs. Paper copies of the RFP will not be provided. The actual closing date for proposals will be stated in the solicitation when issued. This solicitation is issued on the basis of full-and-open competition. All responsible sources may submit a bid, proposal, or quotation, which shall be considered by the agency.
