- The Army Contracting Command-Rock Island (ACC-RI) located at Rock Island Arsenal, Rock Island, IL in support of the Office of the Project Manager Combat Ammunition Systems (OPM-CAS) is conducting a Market Survey to identify qualified sources to manufacture the Container, Ammo, Metal, PA161 (NSN - 8140-01-490-2443), Container, Ammo, Metal, PA103A2 (NSN - 8140-01-490-2453), and the Container, Ammo, Metal, PA117 (NSN - 8140-01-295-8141). The PA161 and PA103A2 Containers are square-rim cylindrical metal shipping and storage containers used for the155mm M231 and M232A1 Modular Artillery Charge System (MACS). Four each M231 MACS are packed per PA161 container while five each M232A1 MACS are packed per PA103A2 container. The container was developed to protect the MACS Charges through out the Army's stringent logistic environments and have design features that improve the insensitive munitions characterisitics for the MACS system. The estimated quantity ranges for this container: 80,000 - 90,000 ea The PA117 Containers are cylindrical metal shipping and storage containers used to pack 105mm Artillery Cartridges. One artillery cartridge in an appropriate fiber container is packed per PA117. The PA117 provides long term storage protection against environmental effects, rough handling and potential shipping damage. The estimated quantity ranges for this container: 20,000 - 30,000 ea The PA92 Containers are Medium sized, cylindrical, steel ammunition container used for the shipment and storage of 2.75 quote mark airborne rocket components. The PA92 provides long-term storage protection against environmental effects, rough handling and potential shipping damage. The estimated quantity ranges for this container: 5,000 - 10,000 ea Interested contractors should submit a summary that includes a brief description of the contractor's capabilities to include: Description of facilities Personnel (numbers, experience, specialized skill sets) Manufacturing capabilities and how they directly relate to the PA161, PA103A2, and PA117 Metal Containers Plating capabilities must be available, see spec for details Estimated minimum and maximum monthly production capacities (individually and concurrently) for each/all. The minimum procurement quantity required for production Are you currently manufacturing this item and/or have you made this item or similar items in the past? (For items asserted to be similar or using the same or similar processes/capabilities, identify the basis for assertion). Respondents must also demonstrate that you have the capability to manufacture the PA161, PA103A2, and PA117 Metal Containers. Are manufacturing resources shared with other item/production lines, if so, identify the approximate amount shared. Brochures/literature may be attached to the e-mail submission. This is a Market Survey Notice only, and it is not a pre-solicitation notice. If a formal solicitation is generated at a later date, a solicitation notice will be published. A Technical Data Package is not currently available for this announcement; however, one will be made available should a formal Request for Proposal (RFP) be released at a later date. All contractors interested in this potential future solicitation must be registered in the Central Contractor Registration Database. This market survey is being released for planning purposes only. It does NOT constitute a Request for Proposal and is NOT to be construed as a commitment by the Government. The Government does NOT intend to award a contract on the basis of this Market Survey or otherwise pay respondents for information submitted. All information will be held in a confidential status.
