Description

RFI document The Social Security Administration is attempting to identify responsible contractors that are capable of providing software licensing and associated maintenance for an enterprise Linux operating system. The operating system will allow the SSA to roll out existing and future Enterprise Agency Applications on non-proprietary hardware. As part of the transition from the National Computer Center (NCC) to the National Support Venter (NSC), SSA will be building an Application Hosting Environment. SSA has selected LINUX as the operating system for deplowment of this new application hosting architecture. This infrastructure will be hosting the Agency processes and applications that are responsible for Agency criticl business services and information transmission to and from financial institutions such as support of OCSE (Office of Child Support Enforcement), Death and Birth Reporting information, the transmission of Medical Records and Disability Information, Email, Data interchange between CMS and SSA in support of the Affordable Care Act, Public web servers for http://www.socialsecurity.gov all the Business Services Onlilne (BSO) and Government Services Online (GSO) applications as well as access control and authentication systems for Internet and Intranet application security.
