Description
The Department of the Army, Healthcare Acquisition Activity- North intends to negotiate a Sole Source procurement with Olympus America Inc., to provide a BX43 Microscope System. This proposed procurement is for equipment for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement no later than January 3, 2013, 1:00p.m. EST. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer. Point of contact Holly Knott, Contract Specialist (Contractor), e-mail: holly.b.knott.ctr@us.army.mil The following verbiage is directly from the Justification and Approval for sole source and is posted in accordance with FAR 5.102(a)(6). This is a Sole Source Justification for an Olympus Microscope, GSBX43L-002-BX43 with LED tilt binoculars for the Langley Air Force Base, Virginia. The Langley laboratory is a laboratory Phase II training site. This equipment provides all the tools required for training-multi-head scope, external camera and digital video as well as the ability to connect to our computer system. If a different type/model is purchased, the laboratory will have to dedicate more time for retraining. Current manning does not allow unnecessary/additional training as we can barely sustain the mission. Additionally, overall cost will increase as it will not be interoperable with the current system.
