Sample Furniture List Address List of Schools REQUEST FOR INFORMATION Classroom Furniture Requirements Contract 1.0 INTRODUCTION The Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools (DDESS) office of the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) located within the continental United States as well as Puerto Rico and Cuba is comprised of 65 schools providing educational requirements for preschool through 12th grade. DDESS schools serve the children of military service members and Department of Defense civilian employees. DDESS intends to award a set of Multiple Award IDIQ contracts for 4th to 12th grade furniture available to all DDESS schools. 2.0 THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY. This RFI is issued solely for information and planning purposes - it does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP). This request for information does not commit the Government to a contract for any supply or service whatsoever. Further, DDESS is not at this time seeking proposals and will not accept unsolicited proposals. Respondees are advised that the U.S. Government will not pay for any information or administrative costs incurred in response to this RFI; all costs associated with responding to this RFI will be solely at the interested party's expense. Not responding to this RFI does not preclude participation in any future RFP, if any is issued. If a solicitation is released, it will be synopsized on the Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOpps) website. It is the responsibility of the potential offerors to monitor these sites for additional information pertaining to this requirement. 3.0 SCOPE. a. DDESS has a requirement to provide furniture for general purpose classrooms grades 4 through 12, specialty classrooms, teacher furniture, common area furniture, administrative furniture, and outdoor seating. See Attachment A for a sampling of required furniture. b. Schools receiving furniture are located on military installations in seven states, (New York, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Kentucky, Georgia, and Alabama) and Puerto Rico and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. A list of these schools along with their addresses can be found in Attachment B. c. To enhance indoor air quality and reduce exposure to chemicals and other pollutants most furniture must be Greenguard Certified. d. Furniture must meet the needs of the specified classroom, teaching environment and provided description. Furniture must have a life span of at least 7 to 10 years. e. Furnish all labor, material, equipment, quality control, supervision and transportation to meet the requirements for furniture as set forth in the order. i. Unload and deliver the furniture inside the school to the designated space. ii. Assemble and install all furniture and support items. iii. Send submittals of products to be furnished before delivery is made. Submittals shall be in electronic form (such as product descriptions from web site). Submittals must be approved by the Government before delivery is scheduled. 4.0 Responses 4.1 Interested parties are requested to respond to this RFI with a narrative of their capabilities. 4.2 Narratives are due no later than January 3rd 2013, 11:00 AM EST. Responses shall be submitted via e-mail only to melinda.davis@am.dodea.edu. Proprietary information, if any, should be minimized and MUST BE CLEARLY MARKED. To aid the Government, please segregate proprietary information. Please be advised that all submissions become Government property and will not be returned. 4.3. Section 1 of the narrative shall provide administrative information, and shall include the following as a minimum: Name, mailing address, overnight delivery address (if different from mailing address), phone number, fax number, e-mail of designated point of contact, Cage Code, Socioeconomic Classification. 4.4. Section 2 of the narrative shall address the issues in Section 3 of this RFI and can include internet links to the vendor's web site to assist in their narrative. 5.0 Industry Discussions DDESS representatives may or may not choose to meet with potential offerors. Such discussions would only be intended to get further clarification of potential capability to meet the requirements, especially any development and certification risks. 6.0 Questions Questions regarding this announcement shall be submitted in writing by e-mail to Melinda.davis@am.dodea.edu. Verbal questions will NOT be accepted. Questions will be answered by posting answers to the Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOpps) website; accordingly, questions shall NOT contain proprietary or classified information. The Government does not guarantee that questions received after December 27th, 2012 at 11:00 AM EST will be answered. 7.0 Summary THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) ONLY to identify sources that can provide classroom and office furniture. The information provided in the RFI is subject to change and is not binding on the Government. DDESS has not made a commitment to procure any of the items discussed, and release of this RFI should not be construed as such a commitment or as authorization to incur cost for which reimbursement would be required or sought. All submissions become Government property and will not be returned.
