Description
This synopsis is being released by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC), for the purpose of updating the contracting community on planned acquisitions. GSFCs Applied Engineering Technology Directorate (AETD), in support of the Mechanical Systems Division (MSD), is planning the acquisition of services under a resulting contract that will be entitled Mechanical Integrated Services and Technologies (MIST) formerly referred to as the Mechanical and Related Services (MARS) acquisition. The purpose of the MIST acquisition is to acquire engineering services and related services to MSD and related organizations throughout GSFC, as required, for the formulation, design, development, fabrication, integration, testing, verification, and operations of space flight and ground system hardware and software, including development and validation of new technologies to enable future space and science missions. The engineering areas of emphasis are multidisciplinary with concentration in the mechanical engineering areas of materials, structural analysis and loads, mechanical design, electromechanical design, thermal, contamination and coatings, manufacturing, and integration and test. The MIST acquisition has been defined as a small business set-aside, Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee, Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity contracting vehicle with a minimum ordering value of $5M, and a maximum of $505M. The planned release date for the draft request for proposal (RFP) is on or about mid January 2013, with the final RFP projected for release in April 2013.To further keep the contracting community informed, enclosed in this synopsis is a draft copy of the statement of work for the MIST acquisition. Any future updates concerning the MIST acquisition will be communicated accordingly.
