- PUMPING 1. QUESTION: One turbo molecular pump corrosive gas turbo system capable of pumping speed for N2 350 l/sec. Air or water cooled? ANSWER: Air cooled. 2. QUESTION: What are the specific corrosive gas or gasses and the Concentration? ANSWER: There are no corrosive gasses. Materials will be out gassing under higher temperatures and vacuum, but these materials are like oils, plastics, etc... 3. QUESTION: Section 2 calls for a 28" X 28" thermal plate and a 5 sided thermal shroud. However, section 4 calls for a solar simulation unit with a 20" feedthru port. The 28" X 28" thermal plate covers the bottom of the chamber. If the 5 plates that make up the thermal shroud cover the remaining 4 walls & the ceiling of the vacuum chamber, then it is not clear how the solar simulation unit can direct the simulated solar light onto the specimen under test because the thermal plate & shroud plates are covering the floor, ceiling and all of the walls of the vacuum chamber. ANSWER: The one panel will have a 12" by 12" pass-through to allow for light from the solar simulator to pass. THERMAL 1. QUESTION: In Section 2 regarding the plate & shroud, the plating is called out as "gold-plated". Is it Type 1, 2 or 3 gold plating and what the plating thickness is and the thickness tolerance (±) if any? ANSWER: Type III and the thickness must be greater than 100 micro inches. SOLAR SIMULATOR UNIT 1. QUESTION: Some solar simulators require 5kW lamps to get to 1 Sun irradiance over the 12" x 12". A 1.6kW lamp to get to 1 Sun irradiance over the 12" x12. Can you please confirm if the required solar simulation specification will be met with 1 Sun irradiance over the 12" x12" under AM0 conditions? ANSWER: Yes the 1.6kW lamp will work.
