Description
Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation - Information Systems, Redondo Beach, CA, 90278, Los Angeles County has been awarded a $148,313,460 contract for the Enhanced Polar System (EPS) Control and Planning Segment (CAPS). This contract includes base and priced option Contract Line Item Numbers (CLINs). The EPS program will provide Extremely High Frequency (EHF) protected satellite communications (SATCOM) capability to forces operating in the North Polar Region, and CAPS is the primary means for commanding and receiving telemetry for the payloads. CAPS provides execution of essential mission functions such as payload clock management and over-the-air-rekey (OTAR) of user terminals. CAPS will receive spacecraft ephemeris data from the Payload Segment HCE and use it to generate User Ephemeris Messages that are uplinked to the EPS payload for distribution to the Terminal Segment. CAPS is planned to be deployed at Schriever AFB with the T&C terminal and CAPS timing equipment located at the EPS Gateway site. The location of performance is Redondo Beach, CA. The work is expected to be completed by FY 2018. This award is the result of a competitive acquisition. Multiple offers were solicited; 4 offers were received. The Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC), Los Angeles Air Force Base (LAAFB) is the contracting activity. The Contract number is FA8808-13-C-0001.
