This is a requirement for This is a pre-solicitation announcement for the Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Medical Center, located in Salt Lake City Utah. A Request for Quotes will be issued on this Federal Business Opportunities website on or about November 29, 2012 for inspection and testing of fire dampers (Does Not Include Repair). This announcement is a total set-aside for Small Businesses. The VA is seeking a qualified Contractor to furnish all tools, equipment, material, permits, labor, and supervision necessary to accomplish, the work as provided in the Contract documents, Plans, and Specifications, summary of which is provided below: Provide inspection of fire dampers in building 1, 3, and 14 as per the statement of work and terms and conditions of the contract When conduction testing, coordinate with the Contracting Officer Representative (COR) to insure that the fire system is in the local test mode. Manually activate actuators on electric & pneumatic smoke dampers to verify proper operations of each damper. If there is not an access door or if the door is improperly sized, notification will be given to the COR with recommendation as to proper sizing of access door. Upon the approval by the COR the contractor will install a new door. Verify that all damper locations are properly identified, provide a detailed report of inspection, and provide a digital photograph of each damper that failed or needs corrective action with location and dates on the photo. If the damper is completely inaccessible the damper is still required to be located, mapped, photographed and reported. All work must be in compliance with infection control requirements (provided by VA Salt Lake City Health Care System) and in compliance with the Joint Commission (TJC) Environment of Care, and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Contractor shall inspect ~360 fire dampers each year. Contractor will be required to inspect (and perform minor repair as needed) one quarter of all fire dampers per year for each option year of the contract. Work will include all requirements stated above for the dampers that are inspected that year. Performance will be based on the number of inspection completed and the documentation that is turned in. VA Salt Lake City Health Care System will verify the completed work by inspections of the work completed.
