Description
Justification and Appoval for AHLTA Training and Sustainment 6 month Extension The 773 Enterprise Sourcing Squadron, Medical Commodity Council, WPAFB, OH, awarded a modification under task order W91QUZ-06-D-0010 X001 with International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) of Fairfax, VA. This modification is for transition and sustainment training services of the AHLTA system. A six month extension is required to guarantee there is no break in service for the subject work/task order. Otherwise, the delay in execution would result in serious financial harm to the Government and care of the AF healthcare beneficiaries. An extension modification is consistent with the terms identified within this announcement upon the basis of the authority provided in 10 U.S.C. 230(c)(2) or 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(2), as implemented by FAR 6.302-2, Unusual and Compelling Urgency. This notice is being posted because this option, under FAR52-217-8, was not previously evaluated as part of the initial contract award. The option exercise will be within rates specified in the current contract, as allowed by FAR 52.217-8, and will extend performance for a period not to exceed six (6) months beginning on 24 Oct 2013. This option exercise will further allow for solicitation, evaluation, and award of the competitive follow-on procurement. The incumbent contractor is the only company that has the infrastructure and corporate knowledge to meet the Governments need for AHLTA transition and training services in a state side and overseas environment without incurring a gap in service if the option were not exercise before the current contract expiration on 23 Oct 2012. This notice is not a request for proposals. No phone inquiries will be entertained. All responses should be made in writing by email or U.S. mail to the attention of Capt Joshua Nabors, Joshua.nabors@wpafb.af.mil, using the contact information provided in this synopsis.
