- Description
- The Cherry Point Satellite Contracting Office, Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS), Cherry Point, NC 28533 hereby gives notice of their intent to award a contract to AAR Defense System & Logistics (AAR), 1100 N. Wood Dale Road, Wood Dale, Illinois, 60191, (Cage Code: 1Y249) on a sole source basis in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The Fleet Readiness Center (FRC) East, MCAS Cherry Point, NC has a requirement for seven (7) V-22 Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) Upgrade Kits. Market research has determined that AAR is the only source capable of providing the required items. Therefore, the government intends to procure these products on a sole source basis from AAR. Pratt & Whitney AeroPower is the sole designer and developer of the V-22 APU and the parts required to upgrade -105 APU configurations to the -107 APU configuration. The technical data, drawings and specifications necessary to manufacture, install, and use this equipment is proprietary and owned by Pratt & Whitney. Pratt & Whitney and AAR Defense Systems & Logistic (Cage Code:1Y249) have entered into an agreement whereby AAR is appointed as the exclusive distributor of spare parts for Pratt & Whitney AeroPower manufactured APUs used on the V-22 aircraft. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES. However, all quotes received within fifteen (15) days after the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered. Interested parties may identify their interest and unique capabilities to respond to this requirement or submit their quote. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Point of contact for this requirement is Larry Davis (primary), 252.466.7765, larry.davis1@usmc.mil or Sherry Kelly (secondary), 252.466.2846, sherry.kelly@usmc.mil.
