Description

The Department of the Army, Healthcare Acquisition Activity- North intends to negotiate a Sole Source commercial item procurement with Abbott Medical Optics to provide an IFS upgrade. This proposed procurement is for an upgrade to an existing system for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, interested parties may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement no later than Monday, November 19, 2012 at 5pm EST. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer. Point of contact is Jessica Ely at jessica.ely@us.army.mil. The following verbiage is directly from the Justification and Approval for sole source and is posted in accordance with FAR 5.102(a)(6). The upgrades to the existing Abbott IFS Femtosecond Laser is only available from Abbott Medical Optics. Abbott Medical Optics is the sole manufacturer and distributor for this tupe of laser. They are also the only company that can provide future software and hardware patches and updates.
