- Description
- Sources Sought Notice with a Questionnaire for Interested Parties Princeton University Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL), a U.S. Department of Energy Prime Contractor, is conducting market research to identify potential sources with the capacity and technical capability necessary to successfully perform the requirements described herein. The International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) is a project now underway in France to construct a device that will demonstrate nuclear fusion power at a powerplant-relevant scale. The international partners, including the United States (US), are each responsible for contributions of resources and equipment to the project. The Steady State Electrical Network (SSEN), which is the AC distribution system for ITER, is an area where the US will make a contribution. Please refer to https://www.usiter.org/about/ushardware/power.shtml for more information. Information about the components in each procurement group is given in: https://www.usiter.org/business/Overview_US_Contributions_to_SSEN.pdf. The SSEN equipment will be procured competitively from individual suppliers. Foreign vendors are welcome. All sixteen (16) procurement actions are excluded from compliance with the Buy American Act; and, therefore, no preference will be given to domestic offerors during price evaluation. Procurement of each type of equipment will be initiated by the issuance of a Pre-Solicitation Notice, followed by a Request for Proposal (RFP). Both of these notices will be issued on the Federal Business Opportunities ( http://www.fedbizopps.gov ) web site. The first RFP will be issued before the end of the year (2012). Please be advised that PPPL will not reimburse parties for any costs incurred in responding to this Request for Expressions of Interest. Please indicate in the below questionnaire your corporate interest; company name; name, email address and telephone number of the cognizant individuals; and most likely factory location (city, country) for each of the procurements listed. If the factory location is unknown at this time, please indicate "To Be Determined" (TBD). Completed questionnaires must be delivered to ITER SSEN Request for Proposal (RFP) Coordinator Natalya Gnyp by 5:00 PM local time, Friday, November 2, 2012. All parties responded to this Request for Expressions of Interest and indicated their interest, would be notified of the RFP availability for the specified type of equipment. Questions pertaining to these matters may be directed to Ms. Gnyp at (609)243-2397 and by email to ngnyp@pppl.gov.
