Description

Official project solicitation package including Special Contract Requirements (SCRs). STATUS UPDATE : THE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS MADE AVAILABLE FOR THE SITE VISIT (SEE BELOW) HAVE BEEN UPDATED AS OF THIS OFFICIAL ADVERTISEMENT. Plans have been made available on the CFLHD website so that prospective bidders may prepare for a site visit scheduled for October 11, 2012 at 9:00 am local time. The meeting location is the pullout on US 212 across from the entrance to the Top of the World Resort approximately 75 miles northwest of Cody, WY. Please note US 212 closes access to Beartooth Pass beginning Columbus Day, so the project is only accessible from the west side (Cody, WY). Please monitor weather and roadway information and plan accordingly. Technical Questions arising during or resulting from the site visit MUST BE submitted in writing to CFLContracts@dot.gov. Technical questions will not be answered during site visit. All questions and answers (and any notes, agendas, sign in sheets, etc.) will be posted to the CFLHD website. The road will be gated closed for the winter shortly after the site visit and no further site visits will be conducted so prospective bidders are strongly encouraged to attend the site visit on October 11. THIS PROJECT IS ADVERTISED ON A FULL AND OPEN (UNRESTRICTED) BASIS. THE ADVERTISEMENT DATE IS OCTOBER 10, 2012. Project Details: The Beartooth Highway Reconstruction Project, along U.S. 212 in Park County, Wyoming, begins at KP 50.8 (mp 31.6) just east of the Long Lake outlet bridge and terminates at milepost 30.7 just west of Forest Service Road 151. The project occurs at a high elevation (exceeding 9,000ft), environmentally sensitive area with seasonal road closures. The work consists of grading, paving, drainage, bridges, retaining walls, pullouts and interpretive sites, wetland reclamation, and site specific revegetation seeding and plantings. Major bid items include (approximate): 4 ha grubbing and selective clearing; 8,500 m3 roadway excavation; 6,000 m3 unclassified borrow, 3,600 t aggregate base; 3,900 t superpave ACP; 180 m various size culvert pipe; 300 m guardrail systems; 300 m3 placing conserved topsoil; 5 ha various hydraulic seeding mixes; 3 ha hydraulic bonded fiber matrix mulch; 1 bridge removal; 170m concrete box beam bridge; 40,000kg reinforcing steel, lump sum contractor testing; contractor surveying; signing and pavement markings; erosion control; traffic control. It is anticipated that this project will be advertised on October 9, 2012. The contracting range for this project is between $4 million and $6 million. Construction is expected to occur in one season (typically June through October).
