Description
The purpose of this Amendment is to provide responses to 2 additional questions: Section C: 3.24.1 Reliability and 3.25 Durability, page C-9 and C-10 Both sections state: The headspace of each firearm shall be monitored throughout reliability testing. The bolt shall not fully close on the "field max" 1.4730 inch headspace gage (NSN 5220-00-070-7814). Testing shall be discontinued for a firearm if replacement parts are not available. Question: If the contractors weapon is not compatible with the "field max" 1.4730 inch headspace gage (NSN 5220-00-070-7814), can the contractor provide and alternate NO-GO head space gage with the bid samples? Answer: The vendor may supply special "field max" head space gages if needed for their weapon samples. The gage shall measure the maximum safe headspace length of the weapons chamber. Two gages shall be supplied with the solicitation samples. The gage length shall be certified by an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory. Question: We are unsure of just what we are to insert into the spare parts pricing column in section B. We think it might be to take our system cost and then take 2% of that and include it there, but we also are required to include a priced spare parts list. We are unsure if any of those prices are to be included in the Section B as part of the evaluated price. Answer: In Section B under the Spare Parts CLIN the figure entered there would be 2% of the Personal Defense Weapon Cost (CLINS 0001, 1001, 2001, 3001, and 4001). The Government anticipates that over the period of the contract 2% will be spent on parts for the weapon. In addition, a spare parts price list is required but will not be evaluated. This announcement is being placed in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) paragraph 5.207. It is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items. 5.56x45mm NATO, select-fire firearm suitable for personal defense. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation and proposals are being requested. See attachments for complete details.
