- On Friday, 12 October 2012, SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (SLAC) will host an Industry Day for MEP Subs to discuss upcoming acquisitions for several construction projects that fall under the LCLS II Heavy Civil Project and Major Capital Projects Program. SLAC will procure the following items in support of both programs: 1. Project Title: New Construction ACB Building Project Magnitude: More than $5Mil Scope of Work: • Demolition of three (3) existing temporary buildings within the new building footprint (approximately 10,000 sq. ft.) • Re-route existing utilities • Construction of a new two (2) story energy efficient and environmentally sustainable laboratory building in the range of 18,000 sq. ft. to 22,000 sq. ft. The building will comply with High Performance Sustainability Building (HPSB) standards. • The project anticipates issuing one (1) contract for the ACB. The delivery method of the ACB Building will be Design-Build contract. 2. Project Title: Renovation of Engineering & Administration Building (B041) Project Magnitude: Less than $5Mil Scope of Work: • Selective demolition and renovation of the existing two (2) story building, approximately 44,000 square feet. • The renovation includes ADA upgrade of existing restrooms, addition of a new s-stop elevator, new fire alarm and fire protection system along painting and carpeting throughout. • The project anticipates issuing one (1) contract for B041. The delivery method of the B041 building will be Design-Build contract. 3. Project Title: Accelerator Control Room (ACR) Build-Out Building (B052) Project Magnitude: Less than $5Mil Scope of Work: • Interior build-out of approximately 3,300 square feet of the Accelerator Control Room (ACR) including approximately 24 control work stations and an Accelerator Network Room (ANR). The scope includes all mechanical, electrical, plumbing and data and communications systems. • Routing of data and telecommunications site utilities • The project anticipates issuing one (1) contract for the ACR. The delivery method of the ACR Building will be Design-Build contract. 4. Project Title: Renovation of Central Lab Building (B040) Project Magnitude: More than $5Mil Scope of Work: • Selective demolition and renovation of the first floor of the existing three (3) story building, approximately 11,000 square feet. • The interior renovation includes new generic laboratories, support space and offices, along with the ADA upgrade of existing restrooms and elevator controls. • The project anticipates issuing one (1) contract for B040. The delivery method of the B040 Building will be Design-Build contract. 5. Project Title: New Construction of Science & User Support Building, SUSB (B053) Project Magnitude: More than $25Mil Scope of Work: • Construction of new four (4) story office and conference center building in the range of 58,000 to 72,000 square feet. The building will be a High Performance Sustainable Building, HPSB. • Site improvements and new utilities. • Demolition of the existing Cafeteria, B042 • The project anticipates issuing one contract for SUSB for both construction of B053 and demolition of B042. The delivery method of the B053 building will be a Design-Build contract. 6. Project Title: LCLS II Heavy Civil Project Magnitude: More than $50Mil Scope of Work: • Excavation for and construction of new concrete and tunnel structures, approx. 80,000 Gross Square Feet (GSF). Tunnels and Cavern for experimental facility. Use Sustainable Building principles HPSB. • Structural second floor in cavern • Site improvements and new utilities. • New Support buildings, approx. 3500 GSF each • Supporting Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing installations, • The Project anticipates Design-Bid-Build delivery. The LCLS II Heavy Civil Project and Major Capital Projects Program overview will be held from 09:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. PST, at the SLAC Panofsky Auditorium, 2575 Sand Hill Road, Menlo Park, CA 94025. No one-on-one meetings will be held. Attendance is limited to TWO PEOPLE per registered organization. Registration closes COB 08 October 2012. To attend the MEP Industry Day meeting, interested parties MUST FIRST IDENTIFY themselves as an "interested vendor", THROUGH the FBO portal. Throughout the acquisition process SLAC will be posting updates to the LCLS II Heavy Civil Project and Major Capital Projects acquisitions, including questions and answers, on the Federal Business Opportunities Website.
