Description
This is a notice of intent, not a request for a proposal. A solicitation document will not be issued and proposals will not be requested. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) Station Support/Simplified Acquisition (SS/SA) Branch, on behalf of the National Institute on Aging (NIA) intends to negotiate and award a sole source purchase order to Illumina, Inc., 9885 Towne Center Drive, San Diego, CA, 92121-1975, to upgrade HiSeq 2000 to HiSeq 2500 Sequencing System. HiSeq 2500 will allow quicker turnaround time for whole genome sequencing in Ataxia Disease Research, ALS and Parkinson's disease Research. The HiSeq 2500 will allow samples to be analyzed on a small scale that allows for a two day experiment timeline rather than a 3 week timeline. IIumina, Inc. is the sole manufacturer of the upgrade to the HiSeq 2500 Sequencing System. Since 2009, Illumina, Inc. has enabled their systems to produce genomic data more efficiently for a smaller scale of samples. In the traditional protocol, preparation, run, and sample analysis times for the HiSeqs take about 3 weeks. The HiSeq 2500 is designed to give us the ability to run smaller scale samples in a much quicker timeline of 2 days including analysis which will substantially increase our efficiency. The acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition using FAR 12 procedures and exempt from the requirement of FAR Part 6, Competition Requirement. This notice of intent is not a request of competitive proposals. Interested partied may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this synopsis. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Comments to this announcement, referencing synopsis number 2732310 may be submitted to the NIDA, Station Support/Simplified Acquisition Branch, 31 Center Drive, Room 1B59, Bethesda, Maryland 20892-2080 and Attention: Jasmine Snoddy, Contract Specialist.
