Description
The US Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service U.S. Salinity Laboratory requires a self-contained mobile gamma-ray spectrometer that is capable of collecting, displaying, and storing spectra from a minimum of four 4" x 4" x 16" (4L) NaI detectors with both individual and gain matched summed outputs with GPS and date/time stamps. The spectrometer must have a minimum of 1024 channels. The system must be able to connect to in-use U.S. Salinity Lab Trimble Pathfinder PRO-XT GPS equipment and display data in real time with submeter accuracy. The system must be capable of measuring, recording, and displaying the following: complete spectral data w/ GPS coordinates; vehicle track; a minimum of 10 user programmable, spectral regions of interest; and radiation exposure levels in ftR/hr (Cs-137 equivalent 30-3000 keY). The system must be ruggedized, modular design, and easily transported for deployment on a herbicide spray rig. All components exposed to the environment must be weatherproof. Detector box must be made of a low gamma-ray attenuation material, preferably carbon fiber. System must be capable of running in an automated mode without direct operator control and must be able to record data up to 24 hrs. The USDA intend to award to Radiation Solutions sole source. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within THREE days after date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solelywithin the discretion of the government reference is made to FAR PART 13. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
