Description
The United States Department of Energy Idaho Operations Office (DOE-ID) is posting a Combined Synopsis/Solicitation for 3 High Purity Germanium Gamma-Ray Detectors Shields. The solicitation specification includes the following: Kolga Model A360-DOE GE Detector Lead Shield; Quantity 3; with the following requirements: The interior shield dimensions must have at least a 28-cm diameter by 40-cm height. The shield must be of a graded shield design that has at least 4 inches of solid-cast lead with at least 0.5-mm of tin sheet liner and 1.6-mm copper sheet liner on the interior. The lead, tin and copper shield should be contained within at least 9.5 mm thick low-carbon steel casing. The bottom of the shield should have at least a 3.5-inch opening with a lead plug that will accommodate ORTEC X-COOLER systems. The shield should be supported on a rigid steel table with the dimensions approximately 2-ft x 2-ft by at least 30-in high. The shield must have access from the top with either a split or single opening door and must be easy to open and close. The shield must have access from the front with either a split or single open door and must be easy to open and have a latch that will keep the doors closed during use. The shield should include an installation and maintenance manual, touch-up paint and lifting eyes. The lid must stay shut when in use ? the bidder should describe how this is achieved. Solicitations that contain shields constructed out of different materials than described in these specification must demonstrate how they are equivalent to the 4-inch lead graded liner shield design, for the 1460 keV gamma-ray for K-40, and will be also be considered. Solicitations must also include freight charges to Idaho Falls, Idaho. The solicitation that is most advantageous to the government will be selected. The evaluation of this solicitation must meet the requirements as stated above. However, if the vendor is able to demonstrate equivalence by using different material and the physical size will take no more than 16 square feet of floor space for each shield and the freight charge is equivalent or lower than the other bidders that use the conventional materials then the award will be considered. Responses are required to be submitted before September 19, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. Mountain Time via e-mail to wagonetl@id.doe.gov.
