- Description
- THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ONLY. THE RESULTS OF THIS RFI WILL BE USED FOR MARKET RESEARCH PURPOSES ONLY. NASA/ARC is hereby soliciting information about potential sources for High Altitude Pressure Transducers. The Atmospheric Science Branch is designing a Meteorological Measurement System (MMS) for the Alpha Jet Atmospheric Experiment (AJAX). The MMS was developed at Ames and has been flying on various NASA aircraft for the past two decades providing high-resolution and accurate meteorological parameters (pressure, temperature, turbulence index, and 3-dimensional wind vector). The MMS data have been extensively used by many investigators to process and interpret the in situ experiments aboard the same aircraft. The AJAX design will duplicate extensively from the original MMS. The following items must be provided for this acquisition: Three (3) differential pressure transducer with an operating range of -1 to +1psi. It has an RS-485 digital with 0-5V analog output. It has a special tighter accuracy of 75%. The digital accuracy needed is +/-0.0375% FS typical and +/-0.075% FS maximum (FS=2psi). The operating temperature range needed is from -40 to 85 degree C. Must be capable of operating from an aircraft. Three (3) absolute pressure transducer with an operating range of 0 to 15psi. It has an RS-485 digital with 0-5V analog output. It has a special tighter accuracy of 50%. The digital accuracy is +/-0.025% FS typical and +/-0.05% FS maximum (FS=15psi). The operating temperature range is from -40 to 85 degree C. Must be capable of operating from an aircraft. One (1) precision Pressure Transducer with an operating range of 0 to 5psi, Gauge. It has an RS-485 Digital output with 0-5V Analog Output. It has a special tighter accuracy (50%). the digital Accuracy is 0.025% FS typical, with 0.05% FS maximum (FS=5psi). The operating temperature range is -40 to 85C. Must be capable of operating from an aircraft. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) ARC is seeking capability statements from all interested parties, including Small, Small Disadvantaged (SDB), 8(a), Woman-owned (WOSB), Veteran Owned (VOSB), Service Disabled Veteran Owned (SD-VOSB), Historically Underutilized Business Zone (HUBZone) businesses, and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU)/Minority Institutions (MI) for the purposes of determining the appropriate level of competition and/or small business subcontracting goals for this procurement. The Government reserves the right to consider a Small, 8(a), Woman-owned (WOSB), Service Disabled Veteran (SD-VOSB), or HUBZone business set-aside based on responses hereto. No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. If a solicitation is released it will be synopsized in FedBizOpps and on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service. It is the potential offerors responsibility to monitor these sites for the release of any solicitation or synopsis. Vendors having the capabilities necessary to meet or exceed the stated requirements are invited to submit appropriate documentation, literature, brochures, and references. Please advise if the requirement is considered to be a commercial or commercial-type product. A commercial item is defined in FAR 2.101. This synopsis is for information and planning purposes and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government nor will the Government pay for information solicited. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation. Respondents deemed fully qualified will be considered in any resultant solicitation for the requirement. All responses shall be submitted to Joe Hicks (joseph.w.hicks@nasa.gov or 650-604-0065) no later than Monday, September 17, 2012 at noon PDT. Please reference NNA12450146L in any response.
