Description
This is a notice of intent, not a request for a proposal. A solicitation document will not be issued and proposals will not be requested. National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA), Office of Acquisitions-Neurosciences, Station Support/Simplified Acquisition, on behalf of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), intends to negotiate and award on purchase order on a noncompetitive basis to Techniplast USA, Inc., P.O. Box 1209, West Chester, PA 19380-5964, to purchase of rack and caging supplies will allow the branch to house and maintain research animals that are larger than current caging will allow. NIMH is tasked with ensuring that all animals used in support of the NIMH IRP animal study proposals (ASPs) are housed and maintained in accordance with all appropriate regulations and guidelines. Appropriate housing must be available for all animals regardless of their weight or size. These cages are needed to house animals that have grown larger than currently available caging and are required to ensure that our program meets established accreditation standards. Techniplast USA, Inc. is the sole provider of the rack and caging supplies. The rack and caging supplies must be compatible with the current caging systems already utilized with the animal holding facility and compatible with the equipment used to clean the cages (i.e. robotic systems, tunnel washers, etc.) NIMH has used Techniplast USA, Inc. caging since its opening because it is equipped with a robotic cage washing system which is specially designed to handle only Techniplast cages and water bottles. The acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition using FAR Part 12 procedures, under FAR 6.302-1. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this synopsis. The determination by the Government not compete the proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely with the discretion of the Government. Comments to this announcement, referencing synopsis number 2669374 may be submitted to the NIDA, Station Support/Simplified Acquisition Branch, 31 Center Drive, Room 1B59, Bethesda, Maryland 20892-2080 and Attention: Jasmine Snoddy, Contract Specialist or email at Snoddyj@mail.nih.gov.
