- Questions and answers received in response to the RFI: Question 1 : What type of automation is being used in the current analytical process? Answer: Tecan EVO robotic platforms as well as the Agilent BioCel. Question 2 : Is there an instrument that the lab is using to punch the FTA samples? Answer: Wallac and BSD punch instruments, 1.5mm punch. Question 3 : What is the analysis process? a.Is it an extraction, quantification, normalization, amplification, CE process? If yes, do you know what kits or chemistries are being used? b. Is it a direct amplification? If yes, what kits or chemistries are being used? Answer: The FBI Laboratory employs selected NDIS accepted DNA typing kits which apply both direct and non-direct amplification chemistries, without normalization and quantitation. Question 4 : How many collection sites are there? Answer: There are potentially thousands of collection sites. Question 5 : Can a vendor submit more than one response? Answer: Yes, a vendor can submit more than one response.
