- Description
- The National Institutes of Health Radiology & Imaging Sciences Department intends to procure a service agreement for an advanced autoradiography technology using real-time imaging and multilabeling patent owned by Biospace. These technologies will be used for applications in imaging rat brains using various tracers. This will be the pre-PET imaging applications for those unique stracers and fast acquistion of autoradiographic imagin becomes of utmost importance, as well as the real-time application as nobody knows yet the exposure time necessary for our study specimen. This equipment is used to start an autoradiography service for the Hammoud lab, which is a new lab dedicated to imaging of infectious diseases. Autoradiography help determine the tissue distributions of inflammation and infection-associated receptors and cells both in vivo and in vitro. We have reviewed multiple other options for autoradiography however none of the other instruments can provide the following two characteristics: 1. Real-time acquisition of data which means that every disintegration will be seen, measured and listed in the image file with a number of criteria (time of occurrence, size, shape, brightness) allowing the discrimination of 2 to 3 different isotopes in the same experiment based on the difference of Energy or Decay. This opens the way to unlimited applications referred to as Multi-labeling. In addition, this system's characteristic allows fast and high resolution acquisition of the data, without the risk of over or under-exposure which can sometimes lead to failed studies and necessitate repeating the experiments. We hope this will result in a more accurate evaluation of the receptors, using a smaller number of animals. 2. Multi-labeling: This is a method of generating a plurality of images of a substrate from radioactive radiation coming from a plurality of radioactive tracers contained in the substrate. To this end, data representing the different detection signals generated by a detector are memorized, individually for each radioactive emission detected during a certain observation period, then statistical processing of these data is carried out in such a way as to estimate the images of the different tracers which correspond best to the set of memorized data. This equipment allows tracking more than one target in the same sample of animals. This microimager has been in use for a one year period. A service agreement is requested to meet the needs of the department in order that the equipment is functioning in a manner which will continue to meet the project requirements and the on-going experiment results. The service agreement will allow for adjustment, repair and replacement of parts as may be necessary to put the equipment in good working order. The service agreement will cover the serial numbered items, but is not required to cover computers, consumables, or physical damage. This requirement will cover a base period for one year and will include four option years. This solicitation requires a pricing offer for the base period and all option years. The intended procurement will be classified under North American Industry Classification System Code (NAICS) code size standard-$19 mil.811219. The requirement is being processed in accordance with the simplified acquisition procedures as stated in FAR Part 13. If any small businesses are interested in this procurement please submit your company capability statement (5 pages or less). This is a Combined Synopsis for Commercial Services prepared in accordance with FAR Subpart 12.6 as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This notice constitutes the only solicitation; a separate solicitation will not be issued. Vendors will provide offer via email to Gail Akinbinu, Contract Specialist gakinbinu@cc.nih.gov. No phone calls please.
