Description
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has a requirement for access to the following databases and intends to award a non-competitive Task Order to Porter Novelli Public Services inc., against contract number GS23F0231N. HealthStyles Database The database contains information on health conditions, attitudes, and behaviors. The data are gathered from an internet panel survey of approximately 4,000 adults representative of the American public from the internet panel maintained by the firm Knowledge Networks. Database weighting as well as survey panel composition are constructed to provide nationally representative samples of the US population, including underserved populations such as Blacks, Hispanics, and Low-income populations. This is critical to understanding underserved populations at greatest need for public health intervention. The database enables health communication specialists in various health-related fields to understand audiences using many different analytic methods. This flexibility provides access to relevant data for developing more effective health communication messages. The database will include current information on behaviors associated with risk and prevention across a wide range of issues, as well as lifestyle and media habits. A re-contact database will also be available from a re-contact survey of the same sample from the consumer mail panel. YouthStyles Database The YouthStyles database is developed in conjunction with the adult HealthStyles database. Parents will be oversampled for the HealthStyles survey and an internet survey of 800 youth age 12 - 17 from those households will be conducted by Knowledge Networks. This will provide linked data between parents and their children. The database includes items on values and motivation, health and consumer behaviors, and media use. ConsumerStyles Database The ConsumerStyles database is a comprehensive look at what the American public is currently purchasing, where they are shopping, their attitudes toward products and services, and how to reach them through the media. This is an internet survey of a nationally representative sample of approximately 7,000 adult respondents conducted by Knowledge Networks. This information can be combined with data in the HealthStyles and YouthStyles surveys for communication planning. DocStyles Database The DocStyles database is developed from an internet survey of physicians on the Epocrates Honors panel. The basic sample size is 1,000 primary care providers. It contains information about the communication needs and preferences of physicians and information about physician's perceptions and attitudes concerning communicating with patients. Prescription Drug Trends Database The database includes data from HealthStyles and YouthStyles over multiple survey years for trend analysis. It contains information on prescription medication sharing as well as select demographic variables. DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The contractor will license data from the 2012 HealthStyles, YouthStyles, ConsumerStyles, and DocStyles databases to the CDC by September 30, 2012. DELIVERABLES: The contactor will obtain a twelve month license September 30, 2012 to September 29, 2013 for the following databases for the CDC's Division of Communication Services.
