Description
DEFICIENCY-86409 The Bronx Job Corps Academy is soliciting bids for on-site maintenance or repair services. The Bronx Job Corps Academy is a federally funded vocational and education training program for youth. The program is open year round with approximately 275 trainees. Bronx Job Corps Academy is operated by ResCare, Inc. for the US Department of Labor. 86409 Region IIA 16.2.4 Emergency Exit Lighting The quantity and placement of emergency egress light fixtures in the building does not provide the code required minimum of 1 foot candle average and 0.1 foot candle minimum for the egress paths. NFPA 101, 39.2.9 and 7.9.2.1 S.O.W./ Recommendation Provide Estimate: Provide new dual head emergency egress lights at the following locations: one in the south stairway in the attic, and one in the south part and one in the north part of the secod floor main corridor. Locate the lights and aim the heads to illuminate the egress, providing code required illumination levels. The emergency lamps should not be fragile, as is the case of most incandescent lamps, but rather carefully selected for an expected long operational life. The new emergency lights shall comply with NEC and NFPA 101 code requirements and have long life battery backup, tests switch and indicator light. Connect to the nearest lighting circuit serving the same respective areas, and connect ahead of any switch. For estimating, assume the installation of three emergrency lights and 60 LF of 3 #12 wire in 1/2" EMT.
