Description
The National Park Service anticipates releasing a Prospectus for lodging, retail, food & beverage, transportation and other services within Glacier National Park (CC-GLAC002-14) in the near future. A two-day site visit is scheduled for September 19 and 20, 2012, to allow interested parties an opportunity to see the facilities. The site visit will begin Wednesday, September 19, at 8:30 a.m. at the Village Inn in Apgar in Glacier National Park and is expected to end September 20, at 8:00 p.m. at the Two Medicine Campstore within the Park. The visit will include tours of the Village Inn in Apgar, the Lake McDonald Lodge complex, and the Rising Sun Motor Inn on Wednesday, September 19, and the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn, the Many Glacier Hotel complex and the Two Medicine Campstore on Thursday, September 20. The Village Inn, Rising Sun Motor Inn, Swiftcurrent Motor Inn and Two Medicine Campstore will have already closed for the season and access will be limited to the scheduled site visit. To attend the site visit, pre-registration is required. If you plan to attend, please contact Jan Knox, Glacier National Park Chief of Concessions Management, at (406) 888-7908 with the name of your company, a contact phone number, mailing address, email address, and the number of people attending from your organization. Please contact Ms. Knox no later than September 14th by 4:00 p.m. As the Lake McDonald Lodge and the Many Glacier Hotel are still open for the season, tours of the kitchen areas of these properties will be limited to no more than 2 people per organization. The western section of the Going to the Sun Road from Avalanche Campground to Logan Pass will be closed to vehicle traffic beginning midnight September 16. Vehicle access to Logan Pass from the St. Mary area on the eastern boundary of the park should be available for those site visit participants desiring to drive to that area of the park. The site visit will involve two long days. Lunch time and food service options are limited so please plan to bring sack lunches and any snacks you might need. Site visit participants are responsible for their lodging, meals, incidentals, and transportation to the respective facilities. Please be prepared for inclement weather and for walking long distances between the buildings. The second day of the tour will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the Swiftcurrent Motor Inn so lodging in the vicinity is recommended. Lodging options for Wednesday, September 19, might include the Many Glacier Hotel, the St. Mary Lodge, the Glacier Park Lodge all operated by Glacier Park, Inc., for reservations (406) 892-2626. Additional lodging options may also be available in the East Glacier area. Attendance at the site visit is not required in order to submit a proposal for the Prospectus; however, attendance is encouraged.
