Description
With this announcement, the Chicago District Corps of Engineers issues a Pre-solicitation Notice for its CALUMET HARBOR MAINTENANCE DREDGING, the Contractor will be responsible for providing all necessary facilities, plants, labor, transportation, materials, and equipment to perform mechanical dredging in the Calumet River to remove 10,000 cubic yards of sediment around specified bridges to maintain navigation into Lake Michigan and upstream Calumet Harbor. The River will be dredged to -27.0' LWD (Low Water Datum) with a 1" overdepth allowance. The dredged sediment will be disposed in a Government furnished CDF by mechanical off-loading. The Classification Code for this procurement is North American Industry System (NAICS) 237990 - "Dredging and Surface Cleanup Activities", this acquisition is a HUBZONE SMALL BUSINESS SET-ASIDE. The Small Business Size Standard is $20.0 Million. To be considered for small business of the government dredging procurements, the firm must perform at least 40% of the volume dredged with its own equipment or equipment owned by another small business dredging concern. The estimated magnitude of the proposed procurement is between $1,000,000.00 and $5,000,000.00. The Invitation for Bid (IFB) Package will be downloadable from the INTERNET ONLY. The project specification files are Portable Document Format (PDF) files and can be viewed, navigated or printed using Adobe Acrobat Reader. Interested Bidders can download the IFB Package from the Internet Site -- Federal Business Opportunities. The solicitation will be available at the above-mentioned Internet site on 21 August 2012. The due date for bids will be on 21 September 2012 at 2:00 PM, Chicago Local Time. In order for contractors to conduct business with the Department of Defense, the contractor must provide registration information to the Central Contractor Registration (CCR). Contractors can access the CCR for free at http//www.ccr.gov. The Government intends to award a FIRM-FIXED PRICE CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT.
