Description
Notice of Intent to Sole Source ? Two (2) each Bohm extrapolation chambers with adaption cables from 2 x BNC to connecting system M, 1.5 m long. The U.S. Department of Energy, Idaho Operations Office (DOE-ID), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) with PTW-New York Corporation, 205 Park Avenue, Hicksville, NY 11801, for Two (2) each Bohm extrapolation chambers with adaption cables from 2 x BNC to connecting system M, 1.5 m long. The cost for this award is estimated at $24,990.00. The Bohm extrapolation chamber is a high quality device for absorbed dose measurements of beta and low energy X radiation in certain depths below the surface of the entrance window. The dose is determined from the ionization density in a small air gap, the extrapolation chamber volume, embedded in tissue equivalent material (PMMA). The chamber is suppliedwith a very thin entrance window of 0.75 mg/cm2 and a collecting electrode of 30 mm in diameter. By means of the built in micrometer screw, the collecting electrode surrounded by a guard ring of 15 mm can be moved to adjust the depth of the sensitive volume between 10 mm and 0 mm. The zero point of the chamber depth setting can be obtained by measuring the chamber capaciting charge C versus the chamber depth x and extrapolating C-1 towards x=0. The chamber is equipped with two BNC sockets for signal and polarizing voltage. The extrapolation chamber comes in a protective storage case. THIS NOTICE IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE QUOTES. However, any firm that believes it can meet the requirements may give written notification prior to the response due date. Responses are required to be submitted before August 21, 2012, 1:00 p.m. Mountain Time via e-mail to thomasrf@id.doe.gov. Supporting evidence must be furnished in sufficient detail to demonstrate the ability to perform the requirements listed. Responses received will be evaluated; however, a determination by the Government not to compete the proposed procurement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Telephone requests or inquires will not be accepted.
