- Description
- The U.S. Geological Survey, Geologic Division, Earthquake Science Center (ESC), has a requirement for non-personal services to provide advice and assistance associated with geodetic and tectonic modeling and interpretation to be carried out in a USGS/PG&E CRADA funded study of central California Coast Range (CCCR) faults. USGS has an ongoing project to take advantage of new fault mapping and GPS data to test scenario fault models and where possible supply constraints on inter-block fault slip rates. The contractor will collaborate with USGS Geology and Geophysics Science Center (GGSC) and PG&E scientists to develop a suite of simple, testable structural models for present-day CCCR tectonics; incorporate these models into a computational framework for comparison with available GPS, geologic and seismic data; complete trial runs on the compatibility of these models with GPS data and their consistency with other geologic, structural and seismological constraints; and perform advanced Finite Element Modeling (FEM) of the detailed fault structure and the detailed agreement of the model(s) with the above data. Further details can be found in the statement of work attached to the solicitation. Desired qualifications for prospective contractors is also detailed in the solicitation at FAR 52.212-2. This solicitation is a 100% small business set-aside. Quotations from other than small business will not be considered. Anticipated award date is approximately 9/15/2012, and the anticipated period of performance is approximately twelve months. The procurement is being handled under the general procedures of FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. All solicitation documents are posted to the FedConnect/FedBizOps interface and are downloadable directly. Contact the Buyer via email at dshannon@usgs.gov for copies of the solicitation documents in the event you are not able to obtain them directly through the automated interface.
