Description
Q&As Provided: Haskell Facilities Management COTR Project Pre-Bid Meeting Contractor Questions 8/16/12 Question 1: At building site 37 (Dairy Barn), it appears from the telecom utility plan that the 900 pair cable "does not" enter TP1, rather it bypasses the pedestal, and a BKMA-50, AJMW-25 pair and a buried wire serving the City of Lawrence Sewage Lift Station are spliced inside TP1. Unfortunately, this pedestal was not opened during the walk through therefore can you please advise if the three existing cables as shown in the telecom utility plan (see screen capture below) are to be spliced into the new 900 pair cable in a new pedestal defined as TP1 in the solicitation? Answer: I opened up the telephone pedestal #1 (TP1) and took pictures of what it looked like. Refer to the pictures/links below. There are also other files/links. From what Gary Goombi could tell, the 900 pair does go through TP1 and there is also another 50 pair cable (2 of them) (not sure if it is spliced to 900 pair) in the pedestal and a smaller cable, either 6 or 12 pair (?). I am not sure about the 25 pair you mentioned. Just remember, if there is a cable spliced into the 900 pair then they will need to be spliced into the new 900 pair cable. Other cables not spliced into the 900 pair may feed other buildings and will need to stay in the pedestals. Question 2: Since locating the existing utilities is a critical part of the project and updated plans and detailed information regarding the specific placement of the utilities maintained by Haskell are uncertain, do you know of any underground utility locators that have been used in the past that would be familiar with the utilities maintained by Haskell? Answer: I do not have any specific names of locating companies that would fit your question.
