- Description
- The following answers are provided for questions submitted by vendors: Question 1: Can a vendor propose just an Integrated Library System, or just a Discovery interface, or are you seeking both solutions from one vendor? Answer 1: The vendor must propose an Integrated Library System (ILS) and a Discovery Portal. However, if the vendor does not have a Discovery Portal that meets the Wirtz Labor Library's requirements and needs, they must propose a third party discovery portal that has been tested to work with their ILS. (Please see RFP section C.4.6) Question 2: Is it required that a vendor's proposed product be registered on FedLink? Our company's Rosetta digital asset preservation system is on FedLink, but not our integrated library system or discovery platform. Answer 2: No, the products required are not provided under current FEDLINK contracts. This is a new requirement for the Wirtz Labor Library only. Question 3: How many staff users does the Wirtz library employ for the functions of Acquisitions, Cataloging, and Circulation? Answer 3: Considering all 3 library locations (main library, law library, MSHA library) and potentially a 4th library location (OSHA Technical Data Center Library), about 15 to 20 staff members are expected to be using the Acquisitions, Cataloging, and Circulations modules. Question 4: Approximately how many OPAC users do you estimate? Answer 4: The library provides resources for a patron population that includes potentially all DOL employees (about 16,000) and the general public. (Please see RFP section C.1.2). Question 5: The RFP notes we are to bid Serials and Acquisitions. Can you verify if they currently have Serials and Acquisitions on their existing Horizon system? If not, do they have this data in another system and if so, what system is that? Answer 5: We currently have a Serial module that we use for our serials. We also have an Acquisitions module that has never been used and our acquisition data is stored on a Microsoft Access database and on Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. This data will be imported into the new Acquisitions module. Question 6: The RFP notes we are to bid a Test system. Can you verify if they currently have a test system now for Horizon? Answer 6: We have a development platform where everything is tested before implementation in production.
