- Description
- NASA/ARC has a requirement for for Magnesium Fluoride (MgF2) windows. The requirement for these windows are as follows: The material shall be optical quality and vacuum ultraviolet grade MgF2. The parts shall be free of color centers. The window shall be fabricated perpendicular to its optical axis to minimize birefringence and transmission polarization. The transmittance shall be verified on parts of full form-factor. The function of wavelength shall be as follows: WavelengthMinimum Transmittance 120-125 nm30% 125-130 nm50% 130-150 nm70% 150-200 nm80% 200-5000 nm90% Transmittance of fabricated windows shall be measured by NASA after receipt. Windows not meeting specification shall be returned for replacement or full refund, up to 1 year after receipt. The form factors for these windows are as specified in NASA drawing number A329-0802-M47 (attached). The drawing also specifies machining tolerances and optical performance metrics. The vendor shall verify optical performance prior to delivery of the components. This notice is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice.
