Description

The M777A2 Howitzer is currently cleaned by five Marines attaching six staff poles together with a large bore brush on the end. The Marines will push and pull the bore brush in the Howitzer tube until it reaches the opposite end. This process is repeated several times to properly clean the inside bore of the tube. However, with the Airnesco Bore Cleaning System, one Marine can put the system bore brush in the Howitzer tube and simply turn it on. The pneumatic pump, which is easily operated, pushes the bore brush to the end of the Howitzer tube leaving it completely clean. Tests have shown the bore cleaning system to be less strenuous on the Marines while providing a higher level of cleanliness than the current method.
