The Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics (DCEG) is an intramural research program of the National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH) that conducts population and multidisciplinary research to discover the genetic and environmental determinants of cancer and new approaches to cancer prevention. The purpose of this procurement is to collect vaginal tampons and endometrial brushings from women at increased risk of endometrial cancer, and to use these samples to test for DNA methylation and DNA mutation markers. The Mayo Clinic is the only known contractor capable of fulfilling the requirements of this project. The Mayo Clinic has a large and stable population of women at increased risk of endometrial cancer, as well as an established infrastructure for enrolling patients into clinical studies, sampling blood, and sampling tissues. In addition, Mayo Clinic nurses and clinicians are proficient using the novel sampling approaches that NCI established. Due to its experience, expertise, and large patient population, Mayo Clinic is the only known source for this project. This is not a solicitation for competitive quotations. All information furnished must be in writing and must contain sufficient detail to allow the NCI to determine if it can meet the above unique specifications described herein.
