- Description
- The Library of Congress/FEDLINK is issuing a Request for Proposal (RFP) #LCFDL12R9301 for an Integrated Library System (ILS) for the US Department of Labor Wirtz Library. The Wirtz Labor Library is a participant in the Federal Depository Library Program and as such provides members of the general public as well as over 16,000 Department of Labor employees with access to both historically significant and current resources pertaining to labor. The library has a collection of 150,243 bibliographic records and 234,144 items that library users can access via the internet through an Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) or by visiting the library located in Washington DC. The library is currently using the Horizon Integrated Library System (ILS) and is home for records from three different library locations: Main Library, Law Library, and MSHA Library. The number of locations may rise from 3 to 4 as the new ILS may be utilized to house OSHA's collections (about 10,000 items) as well. The Wirtz Labor Library is currently seeking a new Integrated Library System and a new Discovery Interface to meet new cataloging, acquisitions, search and discovery capabilities that the current Horizon ILS (Horizon 7.5.1a and Horizon Information Portal 3.21a) does not provide. The Discovery Interface will be current with new trends in library automation for resource access and discovery. In other words, the Discovery Interface should be user-friendly, allow for discovery and provide users with the ability to use filters and to narrow down searches through faceting browsing. The new ILS and Discovery Interface will come with detailed installation instructions that will allow the DOL technical staff to independently deploy them in house with over-the-phone or on-site support from the Contractor. All responses must be in writing and submitted via email. All questions regarding this RFP shall be submitted via email to flicc-cl@loc.gov no later than 2pm on 8/13/12. Please check this site periodically for amendments or clarifications to the RFP. Vendors are responsible for ensuring that all RFP amendments are received prior to submittal of proposals. All proposals must be submitted as specified in the solicitation section L. For information about the Library of Congress FEDLINK program, please visit the website at: www.loc.gov/flicc.
