Description
The National Institutes of Health Radiology & Imaging Sciences(R&IS) and The Radiation Oncology Branch of Center for Cancer Research(CCR) have a requirement for a body fixation device utilizing respiratory compresion paddles in order to immobilize patients for Stereotactic Radiation Therapy(SBRT) as well as other radiation treatments and imaging procedures. SBRT involves a number of treatment techniques according to the location of the tumor. These techniques all require a degree of immobilization which is not achievable using standard methods. In order to reach the degree of immobilization required, a specialized system must be used. This system uses precision, indexed components, form fitting patient supports (vac-bags) and respiratory compression to control breathing. The compression paddle system must be capable of being offset from the centerline, having the pad rotate and flex to match the contour of the rib cage and be offset from the centerline to accommodate a second compression paddle or to give access to a specific organ, such as the liver. Also, the support bridge for the compression paddles must be able to adjust for a wide variety of body sizes and be fabricated from a material which is essentially transparent to radiation, as it may lie within a treatment field. This also results in the system being MRI and CT compatible so that the patient may be imaged in the actual treatment position, permitting a highly accurate treatment plan to be developed. Additionally, the compression paddles must have a simple quick release mechanism in case of a patient emergency. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 339112, Size Standard - 500 The vendor response shall also include any other specific and relevant information related to the specialized requirements of this project that will enable the Government to determine the capabilities of the company to perform or provide the requirements described in this synopsis. All offerors after review of the attached documentation please provide a quote via email no later than August 13,2012 11noon (eastern) to Gail Akinbinu gakinbinu@cc.nih.gov. No phone calls please.
