- Description
- The Joint Program Executive Office (JPEO), Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS), in conjunction with the Wideband Networking Waveform (WNW) Reference Implementation Laboratory (RIL), will host the third WNW Interoperability Quicklook Event, otherwise known as WIQ-3. The WIQ-3 consists of three phases, with each phase designed to assess specific objectives; 1) a preliminary laboratory evaluation, 2) a follow on over-the-air (OTA) field exercise, and 3) participation in the Network Integration Evaluation (NIE) 13.1 Distinguished Visitor Day (DVDay) demonstration. Preliminary dates (subject to change) and locations are as follows: 20 - 31 Aug Laboratory evaluation - SPAWARSYSCEN Atlantic and/or SPAWARSYSCEN Pacific 22 Oct - 8 Nov Field Exercise - To Be Determined 5 - 8 Nov: WNW Demonstration NIE 13.1 The NIE 13.1 DVDay demonstration will provide vendors the unique opportunity to showcase their hardware in a field setting, with the desire to highlight the operational abilities of WNW as a mid-tier waveform. Furthermore, the WIQ-3 architecture design will be structured to demonstrate WNW's effectiveness in a multi-tier network, integrated with an upper-tier capability (e.g. WIN-T), WNW as the mid-tier, and the Soldier Radio Waveform (SRW) as the lower-tier. The laboratory evaluation and field exercise should also provide vendors with risk identification and risk reduction analysis for potential entrance into subsequent NIE events. The WIQ-3 is expected to include both JTRS Program of Record and non-Program of Record radios from vendors that are willing to provide suitable WNW-capable hardware and necessary support personnel. The JTRS Enterprise Network Manager (JENM) will be used to create configurations for the AN/VRC-107 radio and a plain-text version of the RMDS will be distributed to each vendor for evaluation and integration prior to the start of WIQ-3. Furthermore, a cut sheet that specifies IP schema, frequency, and other notable WNW configurations will be distributed with the RMDS. Each vendor will also be provided by the RIL a set of entrance criteria for participation in each phase of the event. Finally, throughout WIQ-3, it is the intention of the WNW RIL to instrument vendor radios with test devices that may include some combination of traffic generators and battle applications in order to assess vendors' interoperability performance in a heterogeneous WNW network. Additional details and test participation requirements will be announced after vendor participation is confirmed. Logistical information, such as location and dates are still being resolved. Interested parties should contact Brett Bendt at SPAWARSYSCEN Atlantic (brett.bendt@navy.mil) no later than 10 August 2012. A questionnaire will be provided to gather deeper information on the current standing of each vendors' WNW capabilities.
