Description
Does your organization have innovative ideas for the developing world? This webinar has also been announced on grants.gov (search funding opportunity APS-OAA-12-000004) for full details. On August 2, 2012, from 9:00 AM to 11:45 AM EST, USAID's Development Innovation Ventures (DIV) will host a webinar series to discuss various aspects of its program. DIV recently released an updated Annual Program Statement (APS) and plans to host this webinar to help potential applicants understand the DIV program, the new application process, and three important elements in the DIV competition. The first due date under the APS is June 1st, but the information provided in the webinar should be useful for applicants planning to submit applications under the September 1, 2012, December 1, 2012, or March 1, 2013 due dates as well. Inspired by the venture capital model, DIV offers staged financing to test and scale development solutions with the potential to be more cost effective than standard practice and scalable to reach millions of people. These innovations can be new technologies, new business practices, new policies, novel combinations of tried-and-true techniques, and more-as long as they could deliver and scale development impact at a fraction of the usual cost. Since opening its doors in 2010, DIV has invested over 20 awards to innovators across ten sectors in eleven countries. For more information about our current portfolio of grantees, please visit: www.usaid.gov/div DIV will invest in a variety of organizations, and many of our most successful applicants are teams of organizations who each bring needed expertise to develop and implement a solution, test it using the most rigorous methods possible, and scale it. Join us at https://ac.usaid.gov/divaps/ to hear more about the DIV financing model, the DIV Annual Program Statement (the guide on eligibility to apply and the application process), and three important elements of our selection process: cost-effectiveness, scale, and monitoring & evaluation. The agenda will be: 9:00-9:10am - Introduction to Development Innovation Ventures by Dr. Maura O'Neill, Senior Counselor to the Administrator and Chief Innovation Officer of USAID 9:15-9:45am - DIV Deep Dive and live Q&A 9:50-10:20am - Annual Program Statement 101 and live Q&A 10:25-10:45am - Cost-Effectiveness and live Q&A 10:50-11:10am - Scaling and live Q&A 11:15-11:45am - Monitoring & Evaluation and live Q&A All sessions will be followed by a live question and answer session. Participants will be able to submit questions via Aid Connect and the DIV Team will provide live responses via the AID Connect audio stream. Although not every question may be answered during the audio stream, DIV will answer and publish each question in an amendment to the Annual Program Statement. In addition, the webinar sessions will be available for viewing (minus Q&A) after the event on the DIV website at www.usaid.gov/div. To participate in the event, visit https://ac.usaid.gov/divaps/, select "guest" and enter your name and organization affiliation as your participant ID. Please note that space is limited to the first 1,000 participants.
