- THIS IS A COMBINED SYNOPSIS/SOLICITATION for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6 as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only publication. A written solicitation will not be issued. Solicitation number M67001-12-Q-0255 is issued as a Request For Quotation (RFQ). The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-58. This solicitation is for 100% small business setaside. The Basis of Award is lowest price technically acceptable to the Government. The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code for this requirement is 332911, and the small business size standard is 500 employees. Brand name or equal items accepted. All equal items quotes must include descriptive literature with detailed specifications. Line item #0001: Qty: 5 FIRE HYDRANTS Description: American Flow Controls American- Darling 5-1/4 B-84-B-5; P/N AFCB84BLAOLN; Bronze seat and bronze drain ring, Seat tested at (minimum and maximum )500 psig, Depth of trench is the nominal distance from groundline to bottom of connecting pipe; Fire hydrants shall meet or exceed American Water Works Association (AWWA )C502, latest revision. Rated working pressure shall be a (minimum and maximum )250 p.s.i.g., test pressure shall be (minimum and maximum ) 500 p.s.i.g., and hydrants shall include the following specific design criteria: The main valve closure shall be of the compression type. Traffic feature to be designed for easy 360 rotation of nozzle section during field installation. The main valve opening shall not be less than 5-1/4 and be designed so that removal of all working parts can be accomplished without excavating. The bronze seat shall be threaded into mating threads of bronze. The draining system of the hydrant shall be bronze and positively activated by the main operating rod. Hydrant drains shall close completely after no more than three turns of the operating nut. There shall be a minimum of two internal ports and four drain port outlets to the exterior of the hydrant. Drain shutoff to be by direct compression closure. Hydrant barrels shall be made of centrifugally cast ductile iron. Friction loss not to exceed 3.0 p.s.i.g. at 1000 gpm through 4-1/2 pumper nozzle.
