Electrical upgrade of East campus per the Statement of Work. Contractor shall ensure all new conductors shall be installed in conduit. Conduit shall be PVC Schedule 80. All conduits will be trenched in and installed a minimum of 42 inches below finish grade. Conduit shall be installed in a bed of pea gravel 6 inches below and above conduit. Trench will be filled by compaction in one foot lifts to surface, graded smooth and returned to original condition. Contractor shall remove existing switches at buildings 132 and 190 and replace with a Quazite Tier 15 manhole or equivalent. Manhole covers will be Quazite Tier 15 or equivalent with an "ELECTRIC" logo. Manholes shall have gasket rims with properly matched covers. Manholes will be a minimum of 36"x60"x40". Conduit will be run into the manholes and penetrations will be sealed. The existing feeder cables will be spliced, leaving the maximum allowable service loop inside manholes. Contractor shall remove existing switch at building 180 and replace with a new. New switch will be configured to control two loads and be able to break both the incoming and outgoing loop power. All necessary fuses will be supplied by the contractor. Building 180 transformer will require temporary service of loop power during construction. Also building 132 will require temporary service from switch at 190. Both shall be in conduit on the ground. Contractor shall ensure a new pad be poured for mounting the new switch at building 180. The pad will be six inches thick with 18 inch thickened edges and will have reinforced wire added. The thickened edges will be 6 inches in width. The overall pad dimension will be one foot larger than the new switch. Two six inch diameter pillars will be augured to a depth of 48 inches on the interior of the pad where space allows. Conduits will enter the new pad using fiberglass sweeps. The pad location will be shifted approximately 3 feed to the NW. Contractor shall supply and mount a new switch on the pad. This shall be a Cooper Power System Catalog #630L29G11A or equivalent. The feeder loop from building 180 switch to building 132 switch is direct buried. This section will be replaced with conduit which will extend from the new switch at 180 to the new manhole at 132. Transformer behind building 132 is currently fed from existing switch at 132, direct buried. New feed will come from switch at 180. This feed will be routed through new manhole at 132. Size manhole per NEC 314.30/314.71 for pulling and bend radius requirements. This entire run will require new conduit and new conductors. The conduit run for loop power from switch gear building 346 to switch at 190 stops approximately 10 feet short of switch. When existing 190 switch is removed, contractor shall complete conduit run into new manhole at 190 using existing conductors. Contractor shall be responsible for verifying proper phasing of loop power and for closing the entire loop upon job completion. Direct buried lines shall be abandoned in place. Fiberglass sweeps shall be used. Factory 90's will not be used. All new conductors shall have TRXLP insulation with full neutrals, bare copper concentric neutrals, 1/0 aluminum and 15kv rating. New switch shall be a Cooper Power System, catalog #630L29G11A or equivalent. All new manholes shall rest on a six inch bed of pea gravel. Contractor shall ensure seeding be done and tended until germination. Contractor shall remove all spoils and debris from premises, excluding conductors. "BURIED ELECTRIC" marking tape will be placed in trench one foot below finished grade. Contractor shall provide material submittals need for approval of the following: Wire Conduit Manhole/Covers Splices Seed Concrete Switches Contractor shall work the hours of operation - 7:30am to 4:00pm Mon-Fri.
