Description
The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System intends to negotiate on a Sole Source basis with Merit Medical Systems, Inc. 1600 West Merit Parkway, South Jordan, UT 84095-2416, to purchase their FDA Approved Tracheobronchial Stents (Product #s 90129-207; 209; 210; 211; 213; 215; 204; 205; 201; 202; and 217), estimated at $45,600, for the following reasons: The above referenced Stents are being used for surgical procedures at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, who also prefers to use FDA approved Stents. The Stents are implants, which the Department of Veterans Affairs also defines as Prosthetics. Per VAAR 806.302-5 (b) (1), the Department of Veterans Affairs has authority under 41 USC 253 (c) (5) and 38 U.S.C. 8123 to purchase Prosthetic Appliances without providing for full and open competition, therefore award will be made to Merit Medical Systems, Inc. This Notice of Intent is not a request for competitive proposals. Parties may identify their interest; accompanied by supporting literature, to the Contracting Officer no later than 12:00PM on 7/16/2012. Responses should be sent to John.Pawlik2@va.gov. No telephone responses will be accepted. Information received will be for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. The determination to conduct a competitive procurement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer. The NAICS Code for this procurement is 339113 and the small business size standard for this NAICS Code is 500 Employees.
