- The purpose of the synopsis is to gain knowledge of potential qualified small business sources. Responses to the synopsis will be used by the Government to make appropriate acquisition decisions and is not a solicitation announcement. Richard L Roudebush (RLR) VA Medical Center has a need for Sterile Processing Technologists. RLR VAMC is NOT seeking pricing or offers of any kind, as there is no guarantee, expressed or implicit, that the market research from this acquisition will result in any particular set-aside or sole source award or any other guarantee or award strategy. REQUIREMENTS OF WORK The Sterile Processing Techs will be certified by IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management), CBSPD (Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution) or an equivalent certification organization. Preference will be given to IAHCSMM certified professionals and those with instrument certification. 3 yrs experience and advanced knowledge of surgical instruments preferred. SCOPE OF WORK Sterile Processing Technicians maintain extensive knowledge regarding processes used in the decontamination, inspection, cleaning, disinfection, assembling and packaging of medical/surgical instruments and reusable medical equipment according to established standards and procedures. Duties of a Sterile Processing Technician include but are not exclusive to the following: Adhering to all local and national VA Policies and Procedures Differentiating between single-use and reusable items Preparing instrument sets for all services such as General, Neuro, Thoracic, Cardio, PV, and Ortho Surgeries as well as Dental, Radiology, and Podiatry according to prescribed procedures Wrapping and/or packaging items for specified areas above according to procedures prescribed for designated areas Operating bar code instrument tracking system Disassembling, decontaminating, cleaning, assembling and testing specialty instrumentation and equipment for appropriate usage Knowledge of scope reprocessing per the manufacturer ™s guidelines HOURS OF OPERATION Work hours: first shift work tour - Monday through Friday, 8:00a.m. through 4:30p.m. Second shift work tour “ Monday through Friday, 3:30 p.m. through midnight. SPS anticipates needing staff predominantly on second shift.
