- This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. This requirement is 100% set aside for small business. The NAICS Code for this synopsis/solicitation is 327215, Size Standard 500 employees. Solicitation number F2KBAD2118A002 is issued as a Request for Quote (RFQ). This document incorporates provisions and clauses that are in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2005-59 effective 18 May 2012. The Government intends to award one contract for: CLIN 0001 - Non-personal Services to Fabricate, Sort, and Ship Glass Beads in accordance with the below Statement of Work The objective of this effort is to manufacture small diameter (<100 micron) glass spheres from solar cell coverglass materials supplied by Qioptiq. The glass material will be supplied in the form of two ~3kg blocks of material from Qioptiq at no cost (One CMG and One CMX), thus the required fabrication process shall include: - Separately grinding each block of material from Qioptiq. The two types are CMG and CMX. Each will be grinded separately into small size glass shards, being careful not to mix the two types of glass. - Cleaning the processing equipment between grinding in order to minimize cross contamination of the two separate types of glass (CMG and CMX). - Running the glass shards through the bead forming equipment (ie drop furnace) - Sorting the produced materials into the following size bins for each type (CMG and CMX): o < 20 micron diameter o 20 - 40 micron diameter o > 40 micron diameter - All six (three for each type of glass) resulting bead materials shall be packaged and shipped to Kirtland AFB. It is desired to maximize the amount of materials in the 20-40 micron diameter bin. >60% of the starting material should be in the form of beads with diameters less than 100 microns.
